Playin' and Bakin'

Now that it is getting dark earlier I have to plan more indoor activities for the evenings. A recent favorite has been making forts, turning off the lights and having story time with flashlights or headlamps. Here is Hudson sporting the headlamp.
The boys helping bake some chocolate chip cookies... Eating the cookies...singing the cookie monsters song.....C is for Cookie that's good enough for me...it gets really crazy when they try to eat a cookie like the cookie monster!

American Fork Canyon

The kids have had some pretty runny noses and coughs the last couple of days. I opted not take them to church and expose the other kids to their sickness...but I also knew if I spent another day cooped up in the house I was going to go crazy! So, this morning I loaded them up and we headed up American Fork Canyon. My plan for the day was to drive the Alpine Loop, but the highway has already been closed for the year. Once we got to the end of the road we parked and walked a little ways up the highway. I brought a couple pairs of Brian's binoculars...and they got to scout for deer.

Lake Havasu

We have just arrived home from two weeks of visiting family in California and having some great family adventures! We spent the first four days at my Dad's place in Lake Havasu.

Newport Beach In Southern California

Every year my Dad and Stepmom rent a house for a week in Newport Beach. The day we had to drop off Brian in LA for his Korean "getaway" the boys and I headed over to the beach house. It was so fun to hang out with all of the family the first couple of days, and then when everyone else had to head back to work my Dad stayed with us and we were able to enjoy the beach for a couple more days. It was pretty cold, as far as beach weather goes, but Hudson and Bristol loved playing in the giant sandbox made by God. The mornings were my favorite. After Hudson, my morning wakeup call, would wake up I would toss the boys in the jogging stroller and walk to the local donut shop for coffee and donuts.....we would sit on the beach and watch the surfers, while enjoying our morning treat.
This is what we got to wake up to! Love it!

Ness Family in Southern California

We took all the kids to the children's museum in Old Town Temecula. It was so fun seeing them run around together and explore.

It was HOT! I think it was about 102 degrees, literally! It was nice to enjoy some ice cream!
